Rumors indicate Nintendo should release a smaller version of the Switch in 2019

According to rumors released on Thursday (31) by Nikkei magazine and translated by the site Gematsu, Nintendo is working on a new version of Switch, the hybrid console of the Japanese giant launched in 2017. The report says that Nintendo would already talked to several vendors and developers about the company’s plans to launch a smaller version of Switch in the first half of this year.

These rumors appear on the same day that the company released its financial results for the fiscal third quarter of 2018 (from October to December last year), in which the company announced a decline in Switch’s sales expectations and cut nearly half the sales expectation of 3DS by the end of this fiscal period, which ends in March.

So far, several analysts have argued that a smaller version of the hybrid console (which would not have the dock station, removable controls and the ability to connect to the TV) would allow Nintendo to market a console for much less than the current one, which would help her reach an even larger consumer audience.
